Details
The 155 series school trip train was based on the latest 153 series train at that time, and appeared in 1959 as a vehicle exclusively for school trips for school children who became junior high school students due to the postwar baby boom.
All vehicles have a low roof structure so that there are no restrictions on the incoming line section used, resulting in a unique square body structure.
For school trip trains, priority is given to securing space inside the train, such as narrowing the door width to get on and off so that passengers are not treated on the way, and a box seat for 6 people on one side + 4 people on one side is adopted, and the aisle is arranged off the center line of the car body. In addition, a very unique device unlike any other, such as placing a large removable table on all the box seats, was seen everywhere.
In addition, the bright colours of vermilion and yellow are used for the school trip, and it is also called "Hinode-shaped train" because of the train name used.
An Additional Coach Pack is available to add to this unit.
