Series KIHA283 is the pendulum express diesel train which made the debut as "Super Ozora" (Sapporo - Kushiro) in 1997. Sporting 130 kms/h operational maximum speed, it significantly shortened the time to travel between Sapporo and Kushiro from 4 hours 25 minutes to 3 hours 40 minutes. While traveling as "OKHOTSK/TAISETSU", it does not use the pendulum mechanism, operated in a 3-car consist (or 4-car consist with relatively more passengers). The scale model does not incline on curves like the prototype to enable enjoying run in a short consist just like the real train.
This set includes one of the KIHA283 Super Ozora DMUs, track, power controller and a UK transformer.
The track in this set can be extended by adding pieces of track in the Kato N Gauge Range or by using the Kato Variation Track Pack to form set layout designs.
