At the start of the First World War, Germany was engaged in battle on 2 fronts. In the west a stalemate began against the armed forces of France, Britain & Belgium. In the East, they were engaged in a fierce campaign against the Russian Empire.
As the war went on & became more brutal, most armies including Germany changed their uniforms from a more traditional style to a plain style with steel helmets in 1916.
This set depicts German infantry on the western front in 1914-1916 & includes a field officer, two infantry officers, a heavy machine gun with crew, and riflemen.
