As part of our Fordhampton OO/HO model railway range we have released a range of plastic kits that may be of interest to readers of Flight Lines. While primarily covering 1/76th to 1/87th scales with a bit of license these kits could be used in dioramas or displays in other scales close to these as well. After all, just how big are real structures or buildings? In all the images you will see that we have brought the scenes alive by including suitable OO (1/76th) scaled vehicles and figures, but these could be substituted with those of equivalent scales to your aircraft.

GM444 Airport Terminal Building.

This Fordhampton kit represents an airport terminal seen at small to medium sized airfields and airports all over the UK. This impressive structure measures 340mm long and features a distinctive control tower. The kit contains 66 parts moulded in 3 colours plus clear windows. The model can be enhanced by additional painting and weathering if desired and on the rear of the packaging there are some useful signs and notices to bring your airport alive. This model could even be used for perspective modelling for larger scales of aircraft, or for a nice backdrop in a display cabinet.

GM445 Airfield Hangar.

This kit of an aircraft hanger comes with folding doors which can be positioned as you require them. When built the kit measures 250mm in length. The kit is moulded in four colours and consists of 70 parts which includes a variety of airfield accessories. Like the terminal the model can be enhanced by additional painting and weathering if desired, but is not a requirement. As a bonus, the kit also comes with two Piper Cub aircraft, with many still seen flying today at airfields all over the country. Suitable aircraft serial numbers for the Cubs can be downloaded from our website , then printed on to decal paper and applied to the wings and fuselage of the models for added realism. Of course you could also just disregard the cubs, which allows the hanger to be suitable to house a variety of different aircraft.

GM446 Planes and Gliders.

This kit builds up as six light aircraft, which includes Piper Twins, powered sailplanes and gliders. Moulded in white with clear canopies, the kit contains a total of 66 parts which builds two of each aircraft type. This delightful collection of light aircraft are fun to build and you have no end in the ways that they can be decorated. Moulded in 1/87th scale they are perfect for use in perspective modelling either in front of smaller scaled planes or behind larger ones. Again, aircraft registrations that can be printed from home are available from the download section on our website. The use of suitable OO vehicles and figures really help enhance the scene seen here.

All the kits listed above can be made using a basic selection of tools. We would recommend the following tools and accessories to help with construction:
