The GMKD1013 Supermarket Kit is part of the 'super-detailed' selection in the Kestrel range of N Scale building kits. This is an incredibly versatile kit in so far as although it comes with stickers to make it an Aldi supermarket, any signs can be created on a computer to make it another brand. The kit comes in six colours, so you don't have to paint it before adding it to your layout. The same kit is also available in OO Scale in the Gaugemaster Structures range under part number GM419.

It is a simple kit to build. Although there are a lot of parts included, not all of them are actually used and a lot of the construction is repetitive.

The first few steps involve building the front doors and windows of the building.

The side wall goes together easily - the white panels fit into the dark grey frame.

The two completed parts are now attached to the baseplate which becomes the floor of the entrance/exit area of the supermarket.

The next step adds details to the foyer and outside wall.

The other side wall is then constructed in the same manner, with a gap for the loading dock that juts out of the side.

This wall is then added to the existing walls.

The rear wall and loading dock are constructed and then added to the kit.

The paper mask is folded up and the slid into the side of the front of the building, showing the blinds through the window.

There is also a mask for the rear of the entrance/exit area, which has images of checkouts.

The roof is put assembled, and is held together by a large, single piece base.

The roof is completed with ridge tiles and gutters.

The finished kit in the colours provided. Accessories such as trolleys are also included in the kit and can be added.

Here I have added CO-OP signs and a lick of paint to reflect the latest rebrand of the chain, so that this building can be used on a modern image N Scale layout. The building is in situ ready to be built into the layout.
