JULIAN LILLEY looks at the 2022 G Scale highlights from PIKO.
We are now in that wonderful time of year when all the manufacturers release information about the products they will be releasing this year to tempt us with.
Below, I have picked on a few new items from the German manufacturer PIKO in their G scale range, who offer great quality at an affordable price.
The first few items are wagons with popular images of aeroplanes on the side; starting for the UK market a special edition illustrated with a Spitfire. Other wagons in the Vintage Warbirds are available to add to your collection.

With an American theme there are two highly illustrated wagons featuring baseball and the Declaration of Independence.

To pull them, this Santa Fe Mogul sound loco with a western scene on the tender would look and sound very good.

If you are looking for a period loco in the Pennsylvania livery with matching coaches, then you need look no further than this Camelback steam locomotive complete with sound and smoke. It also features directional lighting and runs with a powerful ball bearing motor with traction tyres for smooth running up slight gradients.

Don’t forget to add this detailed caboose in the same livery. A different retrofitted interior lighting unit is required to the passenger carriages.
For a different look, add a rake of these stake wagons. Flat cars were used in very large quantities by all American railway companies. The stakes can be lowered. A set of two wagons are included.

The next item is a must have for a anyone who wants detailed information on their layout. It can measure a complete system in G Scale.
Using a WLAN connection, the generated measurement data can be reproduced in the smartphone app (Android or Apple IOS) or on a PC. Exact measurements are made possible even in areas that are not easily accessible. It is based on the measuring vehicles of DB AG.

And finally, this great new radio-controlled starter set would be ideal for encouraging the younger generation into our hobby, or for the ever-increasing amount of adult building block constructors.
The well-known Danish toy manufacturer now offers a large range of models aimed at the adult market. There is even a monthly magazine that mainly focuses on this area of the market available in most newsagents.
