Although there has been no Nuremberg Toy Fair this year (for obvious reasons), manufacturers have still been announcing their new items as normal for this time of year. In this article I'm going to look at some of the highlights due from Piko this year.

N Scale

The first item is the new Dutch Rh 1200 electric locomotive in six different liveries (PK40460-465).

Now for something extremely different; the Dutch Rh2200 diesel locomotive in five different liveries in both analogue and DCC-Sound PK40420-429). These locomotives were mainly used for shunting duties, but were occasionally used for passenger train haulage due to their power output.

Now, looking through the HO New items there were a few new products which to me are eye-catching and stand out from the rest;

The first comprises of three wagons, yes that’s right, wagons! These Epoch VI wagons have all been graffitied down their sides and would be perfect for any empty sidings or freight yards. They are available as NS Railion (PK58981), Rail Cargo Austria (PK58982), and SBB Cargo (PK58985).

The other item which caught my eye was the great value OBB Railjet Taurus Passenger Starter Set (PK57178). This set contains an oval of track and a simple hand controller. The rolling stock included is a Taurus locomotive and three coaches, all in the Austrian Railjet livery.

Now let’s look at some of the big outdoor items that Piko are bringing out this year.

First up is the DB IV Glass train (PK37330). This railcar is different to the rest as it comes with detailed interior including factory fitted figures and interior control panel which lights up. A sound version of this car will also be available as PK37331.

Next up is something that G Scale modellers have been after in the Piko range for a while now. For the first time Piko are introducing Left- (PK35228) and Right-hand (PK35229) Radius 3 turnouts to their track range. Piko have always had Radius 1 and Radius 5 in their range but nothing in the middle, until now!

And finally, a DB Schenker Container Wagon from era VI (PK37753). This wagon is complete with 2 x 20’ removable containers.
