Each helix can be built to climb to the right or left. The complete kit contains all required stands, track segments and detailed assembly instructions. You need a base circle for each helix. The number of assembly circuits required depends on the height that you want to bridge.

A spiral track – what is that actually?

A helix is ??a spiral in which a train travels from one level to a lower or higher level. So the train moves up or down in the spiral track. The spiral track has the same gradient at every point, so that even long trains can master large differences in height without any problems.

When do you need a helix?

The possible applications are very versatile.

• To reach a lower or higher level.
• In order to get into a fiddle yard below the layout.
• To connect two systems of different heights.

How is it ensured that the trains do not derail in the curves of the spiral track?

The outer curves of the helix are raised by 3 mm. This significantly improves driving safety and reduces rolling resistance.

What variants of LAGGIES track helix are there?

Track helixes are offered for gauges H0 and N - exactly adapted to the special conditions of the individual railway makes. All helix tracks can be set up to climb left or right.

How can I bridge larger height differences with a spiral track?

A so-called base circle is required for each helix. This basic circle includes the entrance to the Wendel and the exit from the Wendel. Any number of extension circles can be placed on this basic circle - depending on the difference in height the train is to overcome.

The basic circle comprises 1 ½ circles. The crossing height as well as the entrance and exit are reached with a basic circle.

The development circle:

The development circle comprises a full circle. Any number of add-on circles can be placed on a basic circle. In this way, even the largest differences in height can be mastered without any problems in the smallest of spaces.

What is the LAGGIES spiral track composed of?

The kit includes precisely milled track segments made of 4 mm thick plywood and ingeniously matching stands and brackets.
