Autofest 2019 Review

Image of MATT TAYLOR.MATT TAYLOR reports back from our slot car show back in October.

Over the last weekend in October we hosted our 9th annual Autofest event at Our Shop in Ford, West Sussex.

We don’t just sell model railway items here at Gaugemaster - we also distribute several slot car brands including NSR, Slot. It, Thunderslot, Fly Car Model, and Le Mans Miniatures. We used this weekend to showcase the brands we have available and let the eager slot car fans race on the tracks in our shop.

Bargains galore...

During Autofest we had support from the Worthing HO Racing Slot Car Club (find them on our Club Hub! – Ed), who showed off the Scalextric ARC One system to our visitors, explaining just how the ARC digital system works. Scalextric have produced a digital system for several years now, giving users the ability to run up to six cars on one track – much more fun than just two of you!

Brands Hatch in Action

On Sunday we had six tracks available to be raced on. We decided to give the weekend a British Touring Car (BTCC) theme. We revamped our Brands Hatch track (which you may have seen before) with some Gaugemaster Scenics products and Pat brought in some of his own track sections to build a circuit based on Knockhill in Scotland.

We also demonstrated the new Policar track from The track system was released earlier this year and is one of the newest track systems on the market. Designed to cater for the home and club market, Policar offer the track with 5 different radius curves and offer racers the ability to 3D print radius 5 6 & 7 if required.

The Worthing Time Trial Track

Worthing HO Club built a demo track as a time trial and offered our visitors a chance to race over 21 laps for a chance to win a BTCC Starter Set donated by Scalextric. The set was won by Luke with a lap time of 1:07:990. Well done Luke and we hope you enjoy the set!

The Four-lane Ninco Track

Also on show was a wooden speedway track and we built a large 4-lane Ninco track outside to show visitors what a club track would be like.

Scalextric Lotus 25 Jim Clark Monza 1963 First World Championship

For the event Scalextric also brought over a selection of samples. A highlight for me was the new Jim Clarke Lotus 25. Once this model is available it’s sure to sell out fast!

I would like to say thank you for everyone who could attend the weekend and we look forward to the next event in 2020.

See you on the start line!
