The universal abilities of the cubic Mercedes-Benz were reasons enough for WIKING to bring this piece of construction history back to life in a true-to-the-original model. The significance of the cubic generation lies in the fact that it gradually replaced the generation of bonnet trucks in the field of transporting steel beams and pipes of excess length. In the 1960s, the contemporary cab-over-engine version set out to satisfy Mercedes-Benz's desire to become the dominant truck in the segment of distribution haulage. While still outnumbered at the time by their tractor-trailer counterparts, the cubic tractor units had already become appreciated as capable vehicles - especially during use cases that called for flatbed tractor-trailers.
