The second generation of the BMW 5 Series sedan was rather rare in police service on German roads as a sedan with the mint green painted moving parts such as the hood, doors and trunk. At home, the unconventional Bavarians preferred to decorate their service limousines with a light green cravat. On the other hand, the loyal viewers of the RTL series "Alarm for Cobra 11" still know the WIKING model from the first seasons, when the E34 series provided fast-paced scenes. In a similar design, the 5 Series was used by the state after reunification in Thuringia, when the Ministry of the Interior there had upgraded with the early procurement of new service vehicles.
