The E001 type, which was prepared exclusively for cruise trains, uses the "EDC method" to collect electricity from the overhead line as usual in the electrified section and drive the traction motor with the power of the diesel generator mounted on the vehicle in the non-electrified section. In addition, it is compatible with DC 1,500V, AC 20,000V (50Hz / 60Hz), and AC 25,000V (Hokkaido Shinkansen common section), and can be operated in a wide range regardless of electrification or non-electrification.
The dynamic design of the car body painted in Shikishima Gold, windows of various sizes on the side, cooling fans mounted on both leading cars are lined up, and pantographs and extra-high equipment are mounted on the roof, and modeling is done. It is a lively vehicle.
