Details
When cargo ships enter the port of destination after thousands of nautical miles, there is still a difficult stretch ahead of them. This is where the harbor tug boats come in, taking command and pulling the huge ships safely to the dock.
The tugboats do not pick up cargo but serve to haul and tow large tankers and cargo ships. The small, robust, but very manoeuvrable ships have a very powerful machine from 250 to several thousand hp. Their command bridges are designed as tall superstructures, in order to guarantee their task, a good all-round visibility for safe guidance through the narrow harbor area. Stern, bow and side walls are usually reinforced and additionally equipped with wickerwork.
