Background

In-universe, the RX-78-2 is the Earth Federation’s prototype mobile suit from the One Year War (U.C. 0079), but the “Beyond Global” version is not a narrative variant. Instead, it is a real-world anniversary reinterpretation of the original design from Mobile Suit Gundam.

The kit reflects how Gunpla engineering has evolved over four decades. Early rigid proportions and limited articulation have been replaced with multi-axis joints, hidden articulation points, and improved limb range, allowing more expressive posing closer to animation-style action frames.
