Track

Welcome to Our Giant Selection of OO Gauge Track

If you are interested in extending your model railway with more track, buying track for the first time or perhaps buying some track as a gift, then you’ve come to the right place.

OO Gauge is 1:76 scale (or 1:76.2 scale to be precise) and is the most popular gauge to model in the United Kingdom with nearly all of the major manufacturers supporting it.  There is a comprehensive range of locomotives, coaches, wagons, track and accessories to extend with, so the possibilities are almost limitless.

The most popular brands for OO Gauge Track are Peco and Hornby but you can also use HO Gauge track too as from a cosmetic and practical perspective this is fine too.  This opens up pre-ballasted systems such as Kato Unitrack, PIKO A Track, RocoLine, Trix C Track and Atlas as well as unballasted systems from both Atlas, PIKO and Roco. However, once decided, you should really stick with the same track system as our experience tells us that life is made easier by using the same brand.

The first decision you need to make is whether to stick to a sectional track system such as Peco Setrack or Hornby.  Your other option is using flexible track such as Peco Streamline which is extremely well established and widely used.

The advantages of sectional track is that it is plug together with defined radii and the geometry all links together (within the same brand) to give you a huge number of possibilities and no annoying gaps!  The disadvantage is that there is a more limited range of Turnouts (points) and crossings.

Flexible track is exactly that and with Peco Streamline offering a huge and comprehensive selection, you can create almost any model railway you wish.  Turnouts are often available in small, medium and large sizes and there are also double slips and catch points available too.  There is also a complete finescale system available in this size, with finer profile rail for maximum realism.  The disadvantage of flexible track is that it has to be cut to size and much more consideration needs to be given to the tightness of the curves and clearances, so that your locomotives and rolling stock don’t derail.

We are one of the largest suppliers of OO Gauge Track in the world and our experienced expert team (who are all modellers themselves) are on hand to guide you with any advice or suggestions you might need.  Enhance your modelling by buying Peco or Hornby OO track direct from Gaugemaster – the model shop for BIG imaginations.
