Buildings

Welcome to Our Giant Selection of N Gauge Buildings

If you are interested in extending your model railway with more buildings, buying buildings for the first time or perhaps buying some track as a gift, then you’ve come to the right place

N Gauge is a very popular gauge to model in the United Kingdom with many major manufacturers supporting it.  There is a comprehensive range of locomotives, coaches, wagons, track and accessories to extend with, so the possibilities are almost limitless.  There is a slight variation in scale depending on which country you model but everything can run on the same track. This means that some locomotives and rolling stock will look big or small compared to equivalent items in a bigger or smaller scale and some couplings are incompatible (but can be switched over).  In simple terms, all the British N Gauge (1:148 scale) rolling stock is totally compatible while the rest of the world enjoys N Gauge in 1:160 scale with their own coupling system.  There is one further exception- Japan, where N Gauge is not only the most dominant model railway gauge but is 1:150 scale.

So in short, go British OR Rest of World OR Japanese and stick to it!

The most popular brands for British N Gauge Buildings are Graham Farish Scenecraft, Metcalfe, Kestrel Designs, Dapol, ATD Models, Peco and Ratio.  If you like European buildings (and of course many look just at home on a UK layout with their common design) then take a look at the Faller, NOCH and Vollmer selection.  Of this selection, Graham Farish offer the vast majority of their Scenecraft range as painted and fully finished buildings that require nothing other than to place them on your model railway.  KATO offer a number of similar style buildings, fully finished but in plastic rather than resin.  Metcalfe and ATD Models deliver card kits which are fun to build in an easy medium while the other suppliers we mention offer buildings as plastic kits that require building and painting to complete

We also offer a huge number of smaller buildings and everyday items to complete the scene.  These are often made from laser cut wood and require some basic assembly or are 3D printed using the latest technology so again are ready to go.

What is unarguable is having the correct tools to build kits is essential and that every building does benefit from some customisation.  Ask us for our top tips in how to do this.

We are one of the largest suppliers of N Gauge Buildings in the world and our experienced expert team (who are all modellers themselves) are on hand to guide you with any advice or suggestions you might need.  Enhance your modelling by buying Graham Farish Scenecraft, Metcalfe, Kestrel Designs, Dapol, ATD Models, Peco, Ratio, Faller and Vollmer N Gauge Buildings direct from Gaugemaster – the model shop for BIG imaginations.
