Background

Within the After War (A.W.) timeline, the GX-9901-DX Gundam Double X is developed by the New United Nations Earth (NUNE) as an evolution of the original Gundam X.

It is piloted by Garrod Ran, who becomes central to the conflict involving the remnants of the 7th Space War and the continued struggles between Earth-based factions and space-colony survivors.

The Double X is built around the Satellite System Mk-II, an upgraded energy transmission system that allows it to receive microwave energy from orbital reflectors. This energy is focused into the Twin Satellite Cannon, one of the most powerful weapons in the After War setting, capable of destroying large strategic targets with a single sustained blast.

The mobile suit also supports docking with the G-Falcon support unit, increasing mobility and providing additional weapons systems during combined operations.
