Details

The Roco 6600248 is a highly detailed H0 scale freight wagon set featuring two covered postal wagons of type Post 2s-t/11, operated by the Deutsche Bundespost (DBP). Representing Era IV operation, this set depicts specialised mail transport wagons used in the Berlin postal network during the 1980s and early 1990s, offering an authentic insight into dedicated railway postal services.

The wagons are based on converted DB Gos 245 / Gos-uv 245 covered goods wagons, originally introduced in 1981 for postal transport operations. Although technically freight wagons, they were assigned passenger coach numbers due to their role in fast mail services. The set includes two distinct variants: one wagon fitted with a brakeman’s platform and one wagon equipped with a heating cable for the first time in model form.

Each wagon features finely moulded construction with prototypical sliding doors, detailed underframes, and accurate DBP lettering. The models are supplied in high-quality finish with individually applied details that reflect real operational conditions.

Designed for smooth and reliable running, the wagons are equipped with NEM 362 coupling pockets and close coupling kinematics, ensuring excellent compatibility with modern H0 rolling stock. With a total length over buffers of 293 mm, the set integrates seamlessly into H0 2-rail DC layouts and is suitable for both standalone postal trains and mixed freight consists.
