The SBB Re 420 (formerly Re 4/4 II) is one of the most successful and recognisable Swiss electric locomotives, making it a popular subject for model railway layouts representing European main-line operations from the 1960s to the present day. Built between 1964 and 1985, more than 270 locomotives were produced, making it the largest locomotive class operated by Swiss Federal Railways.
