Details

The DBAG Class 145 and Class 146 are modern German electric locomotives developed in the late 1990s as part of the Bombardier TRAXX family, designed for reliable, high-performance operation on both freight and passenger services. Built for Deutsche Bahn, the Class 145 was primarily intended for freight duties, while the closely related Class 146 was configured for regional and commuter passenger trains, often working in push-pull formations with driving trailers.

Both classes share a modular design, three-phase AC traction equipment, and a maximum speed suitable for main-line operation, but passenger-focused Class 146 locomotives include features such as train heating and push-pull control systems. Over time, further subclasses of the Class 146 were produced, reflecting technical improvements and evolving operational requirements.
