Historical Background

The Vauxhall Nova was one of Britain’s most recognisable small cars of the 1980s and early 1990s. Introduced in the UK in 1983 as the British-market version of the Opel Corsa A, the Nova was designed to replace the ageing Vauxhall Chevette and compete with popular superminis such as the Ford Fiesta and Austin Metro. Built in Zaragoza, Spain, the Nova quickly became a sales success thanks to its compact size, affordable running costs and wide range of models.
