Details

In 1943–44, the Société Alsacienne de Constructions Mécaniques (SACM) factory in Graffenstaden, near Strasbourg, built over 100 Class 52 locomotives. After the war, in 1945–46, the SNCF ordered an additional 17 engines, designating them Class 150 Y. A unique feature of these locomotives was their shorter chimney, designed to fit within the French clearance gauge. The Class 150 Y hauled both heavy goods and passenger trains in the eastern regions of France and remained in service until the late 1950s. Their robust design and historical significance make them a fascinating subject for model railway layouts depicting post-war French railways.
