Details
The DB Class 23 was a lightweight German steam locomotive built between 1950 and 1959 for Deutsche Bundesbahn passenger services. With its distinctive 2-6-2 “Prairie” wheel arrangement, it offered a modern alternative to heavier express engines, combining speed, reliability, and smooth running. A total of 105 locomotives were produced, numbered 23 001–23 105, reaching speeds of up to 110 km/h. Today, the Class 23 is a favourite among model railway enthusiasts, celebrated for its elegant lines, historical significance, and excellent representation in 1:87 and larger scales. Perfect for collectors recreating post-war German rail scenes.
