Details
The Class E 94 electric locomotive, delivered by Allgemeine Elektricitäts-Gesellschaft (AEG) in Berlin-Hennigsdorf, was a powerful workhorse of the Deutsche Reichsbahn (DRG). Designed for heavy freight services, particularly over steep gradients like the Brenner Pass, the E 94 became an essential part of Germany's railway network. A total of 285 locomotives were ordered, with 145 delivered by the end of the war, reflecting their significance as a critical investment for transportation efficiency. Capable of a maximum speed of 90 km/h, the E 94 delivered an impressive hourly output of 3,240 kW and a starting power of 3,900 kW, making it one of the most robust electric locomotives of its era.
