Details:
The Ferrari Testarossa is one of the most iconic supercars of the 1980s and 1990s, produced by Ferrari from 1984 to 1996. Introduced as a successor to the Ferrari 512 BB, the Testarossa featured a mid-mounted 4.9-litre flat-12 engine, producing around 390 bhp in its original form, delivering exceptional performance and a top speed of over 290 km/h. Its name, meaning “redhead” in Italian, refers to the red-painted cam covers on the cylinder heads.
The Testarossa’s design, created by Pininfarina, is instantly recognisable thanks to its wide rear track, signature side strakes, and low-slung profile. It became a symbol of 1980s automotive excess and style, gaining fame in popular culture, most notably through its appearance in the television series Miami Vice. Over its production run, Ferrari introduced updated variants such as the 512 TR and F512 M, featuring increased power, improved handling, and refined aerodynamics.
For model collectors, the Ferrari Testarossa is a highly sought-after subject due to its iconic styling, powerful performance, and cultural significance. Its distinctive design and historical importance make it ideal for die-cast and scale models, allowing collectors to celebrate one of Ferrari’s most legendary road cars. The Testarossa remains a standout addition to any collection of classic supercars or 1980s automotive icons.
