Description
Antonov AN-12 Ukraine Air Alliance UR-CNT (1:200)
Between 1957 and 1973, over 1,200 Antonov AN-12 transport aircraft—designated “Cub” by NATO—were produced across various factories in the former Soviet Union. Designed to fulfil roles similar to the American Lockheed C-130, the AN-12 has proven to be a rugged and versatile aircraft. Around 250 units remain in military and commercial operation worldwide. The civilian AN-12B variant, introduced in 1963, featured the removal of the tail gun, while the later AN-12BP incorporated upgraded avionics and additional fuel tanks for extended range. One notable operator is Ukraine Air Alliance (UAA), a Kyiv-based cargo airline founded in 1992. Throughout its history, UAA has flown a variety of Soviet-built freighters, ranging from the small AN-2 to the giant AN-124. Since 2020, its fleet has been streamlined to four AN-12BP aircraft, including the distinctive UR-CNT. Sporting a striking dark blue livery, this 55-year-old aircraft continues to transport up to 20 tonnes of cargo reliably across the globe.
