For over a century, the legendary Goodyear Blimp has been an iconic presence in the skies, capturing the imagination of audiences across the globe. The journey began in 1925 with the “Pilgrim,” the first commercial non-rigid airship powered by helium. Designed to carry two crew members and two passengers, the Pilgrim marked the beginning of using blimps for public relations. Since the 1960s, Goodyear’s blue and yellow blimps have become a familiar sight at major professional sports events throughout North America and, more recently, across Europe. “Wingfoot One,” the first of three next-generation airships built by Luftschiffbau Zeppelin, was delivered to the Wingfoot Lake Airship Hangar near Goodyear’s global headquarters in Akron, Ohio, ushering in a new era of airship excellence.
