Historical Background
The Boeing 757-200 entered service in the early 1980s as a highly efficient narrow-body airliner designed for short to medium range routes with transcontinental capability. Known for its advanced performance, powerful engines and excellent range for its size, the 757 quickly became a favourite among airlines operating demanding routes across the Atlantic and within North America and Europe.
This particular model celebrates the legacy of Pan American World Airways, commonly known as Pan Am, which was founded in 1927 and became one of the most influential airlines in aviation history. Pan Am pioneered many of the first commercial transatlantic passenger services, establishing both northern and southern Atlantic routes in the late 1930s. The “Tracing the Transatlantic” concept pays tribute to these historic routes, combining modern luxury aviation with the spirit of early long-haul travel.
In this commemorative interpretation, the Boeing 757-200 is configured as a premium all-business-class style aircraft, echoing the exclusivity and glamour of early intercontinental air travel while retracing the original Atlantic crossings that defined Pan Am’s global reputation.
