The Bavarian Zugspitzbahn of the Bavarian Zugspitzbahn Bergbahn AG is one of the oldest cable cars in Germany next to the Wendelsteinbahn. The route leads from Garmisch Partenkirchen directly to the Zugspitze, the highest mountain in Germany. The route begins with the valley railway between Garmisch Partenkirchen and Grainau, from there the steep section goes up to the Zugspitze in a rack railway. Currently, the Tallok 1 and 4 and the 4-axle passenger cars are still in use.
