At the beginning of the 1990s, the Dutch Railways acquired its own couchette coaches from Deutsche Bahn AG stock, purchasing twenty ex-tourist coaches of type Bcm246. Initially, the coaches retained the blue and beige livery, before later being repainted in a uniform dark blue scheme.
