This highly detailed coach represents one of the iconic Pullman kitchen vehicles, designed to offer full first-class dining service on Britain’s most prestigious express trains.

The Pullman Car Company introduced its famous luxury coaching stock in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, operating services across the “Big Four” railway companies and later British Railways. Pullman trains were renowned for their opulent interiors, named carriages, and full at-seat dining service, making them the pinnacle of British railway travel for many decades.

This model depicts the First Class Kitchen Parlour Car “Fingall”, finished in the classic Pullman umber and cream livery with fine lining and detailing. It is ideal for Era 3 layouts and adds authentic luxury passenger operation to TT:120 mainline express formations.

Historical Background

The Pullman Car Company began operating in Britain in 1874, introducing American-inspired luxury rail travel to the UK. By the early 20th century, Pullman services had become synonymous with comfort, offering fully staffed dining cars, individually named coaches, and premium first-class accommodation.

Kitchen Parlour Cars like “Fingall” played a central role in providing freshly prepared meals at passengers’ seats. These coaches operated across major routes under the “Big Four” railway companies and later British Railways until the final Pullman services were withdrawn in 1972.
