The German Sd.Kfz. 171 Panther was a World War II medium tank introduced in 1943 to counter the Soviet T-34. It combined powerful firepower, with a 75mm KwK 42 L/70 gun, advanced armor protection, and high mobility. The Panther featured sloped armor for increased deflection and was powered by a Maybach V12 engine delivering 700 horsepower. It was widely regarded for its balance of speed, protection, and firepower, though early models suffered mechanical reliability issues. Over 6,000 Panthers were produced, serving primarily on the Eastern and Western Fronts until the war’s end.
