The Soviet JS-2 (Iosif Stalin-2) was a heavy tank introduced in 1944 during World War II. It featured thick sloped armor and was armed with a powerful 122mm D-25T main gun capable of destroying German heavy tanks and fortifications. Powered by a V-12 diesel engine, the JS-2 balanced firepower, protection, and mobility, making it effective on the Eastern Front. It saw action in the final years of WWII and postwar conflicts. The tank was influential in Soviet armored doctrine, emphasizing breakthrough and assault roles. Approximately 3,800 JS-2s were produced.
