Italian Macchi MC.202 Folgore (1:48 Scale)

The Macchi C.202 Folgore ("Thunderbolt") was an Italian World War II fighter aircraft developed by Macchi Aeronautica and designed by Mario Castoldi. First flown on 10 August 1940 and entering service in July 1941, it was a significant advancement over its predecessor, the C.200 Saetta. Powered by a license-built Daimler-Benz DB 601Aa engine, the C.202 featured a streamlined fuselage and metal construction, enhancing its speed and maneuverability. Despite being lightly armed with two 12.7 mm Breda-SAFAT machine guns, it was considered one of the best Italian fighters of the war. Approximately 1,150 units were produced, serving on multiple fronts until its retirement in 1951.
