Description
US DUKW 2.5t GMC Amphibious Truck (1:35 Scale)
The DUKW, colloquially known as the "Duck," was a six-wheel-drive amphibious truck developed by GMC during World War II. Based on the GMC CCKW 2½-ton 6×6 truck, it featured a watertight hull and a rear-mounted propeller, allowing it to operate on both land and water. Powered by a 91 hp GMC Model 270 engine, the DUKW could carry 5,000 pounds of cargo or 24 troops, reaching speeds of 50 mph on land and 6.4 mph in water. Between 1942 and 1945, 21,147 units were produced. The DUKW played a crucial role in amphibious operations, including the Normandy landings, and was later used in civilian roles such as tourism and emergency services.
