The Italian Semovente M42 was a World War II self-propelled gun based on the M14/41 tank chassis. It was armed with a 75mm L/34 howitzer, designed for infantry support and tank destroyer roles. Introduced in 1942, the Semovente M42 improved upon earlier models with better armor and firepower. Its low silhouette made it a difficult target, and it was used extensively by Italian forces in North Africa and Italy. Despite limited production, it proved effective in combat. Post-1943, some were used by German forces after Italy’s armistice.
