Details:

Recreate one of the most unusual armoured support conversions of the Second World War with a detailed plastic model kit of the Bergetiger. Based on the legendary Tiger I heavy tank, this modified vehicle was adapted for technical and logistical support roles on the front line rather than direct combat.

The Bergetiger retained the Tiger I’s hull, tracks, and famously thick armour, but had its main gun removed and replaced with recovery equipment. In its modified configuration, it was fitted with a crane designed for towing disabled vehicles and lifting heavy components, making it suitable for battlefield recovery and repair operations.

This field-converted vehicle also carried spare parts, maintenance equipment, and reserve ammunition, allowing it to support armoured units operating under combat conditions. It is believed that these conversions were carried out in limited numbers by German field workshops rather than formal factory production, and exact production figures remain unknown.

Often compared to similar recovery variants based on the Panther and Panzer IV, the Bergetiger represents an improvised but practical solution to the demands of armoured warfare logistics during the later stages of the war.
