Among the 4 Alpine entered by the Régie at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1978, the A443 entered late.

The A443 n ° 1 takes the second position on the starting grid. After the retirement of Jacky Ick's Porsche who then joined the Barth-Wollek crew of the n ° 6 Porsche 936, she even took the lead of the race between the 7th and 18th hour. She gave up shortly before 10 a.m., when it had been decided to lower her speed to spare her engine and she stopped when the engine was blocked.

12 years after the first version, here is the improved version of the A443 which now includes the ABS chassis, aluminum wheels and a figure.
