Details
The Märklin 39435 recreates one of Germany's most elegant express steam locomotives in stunning H0 gauge. Representing Royal Bavarian State Railways (K.Bay.Sts.B.) S 3/6 No. 3627 in its circa-1912 condition, this highly detailed model depicts the famous "Hochhaxige" or "High Stepper" variant, distinguished by its impressive 2,000mm driving wheels and elevated boiler profile.
Built to Märklin's premium standards, the locomotive features a largely metal construction, finely detailed open bar-frame chassis, detailed cab interior and authentic Bavarian styling throughout. A high-efficiency motor with flywheel provides smooth and powerful running, while the factory-fitted mfx+ digital decoder delivers an extensive range of realistic steam locomotive sound functions. The model is also equipped with a factory-installed smoke generator, digitally switchable cab lighting, directional warm-white LED headlights and close-coupling mechanisms between locomotive and tender.
Whether hauling prestigious express coaches on an Era I layout or displayed as the centrepiece of a Bavarian railway collection, the Märklin 39435 is a superb representation of one of Europe's most admired steam locomotive designs.

Historical Background
The Bavarian S 3/6 is widely regarded as one of the finest express steam locomotives ever built in Germany. Developed by Maffei in 1907 for the Royal Bavarian State Railways, the class combined elegant lines with advanced four-cylinder compound technology, delivering both high-speed performance and remarkable efficiency. Its timeless appearance quickly earned admiration from railway enthusiasts and professionals alike.
The "Hochhaxige" subclass was introduced in 1912 and featured larger 2,000mm driving wheels than earlier locomotives, resulting in a higher boiler position and a distinctive appearance. These locomotives were intended for the most prestigious express passenger services across Bavaria and became some of the most capable high-speed steam locomotives of their era.
The success of the S 3/6 design ensured a long service life, with later examples continuing in operation under the Deutsche Reichsbahn and Deutsche Bundesbahn for decades. Today, the class remains one of the most celebrated locomotives in German railway history, making the Märklin 39435 an essential addition for collectors and enthusiasts of classic European steam.
