DR WG3yge835 Deutsche Weinstrasse Coach Set (2) IV
Details
Celebrate one of Germany's most famous wine-growing regions with the Märklin 43187 Deutsche Weinstraße coach pair. This beautifully detailed H0 gauge set reproduces a pair of three-axle rebuilt coaches (WG3yge 835) operated by the Deutsche Bundesbahn as special excursion and society coaches during the early 1980s. Finished in an eye-catching beige and cobalt blue livery with distinctive "Deutsche Weinstraße" lettering, these unique vehicles are perfect for adding colour and character to any Era IV German model railway.
Both coaches are equipped with factory-fitted LED interior lighting, allowing the detailed interiors to be showcased during operation. The permanently coupled coach pair features current-conducting couplers between the vehicles and at the outer ends, ensuring reliable power distribution throughout the set. Measuring approximately 30.5cm over the buffers, the coaches are ideal for operation behind a wide variety of Deutsche Bundesbahn diesel and electric locomotives.
Whether running as part of a special excursion train, a railway society charter, or a regional passenger service, the Märklin 43187 provides an attractive and unusual addition to any H0 gauge collection.

Historical Background
The Deutsche Weinstraße (German Wine Route) is one of Germany's most famous tourist routes, running through the vineyards and historic wine-producing towns of the Palatinate region. During the post-war decades, Deutsche Bundesbahn frequently operated special excursion trains to promote tourism and regional attractions, often using specially decorated rolling stock.
The rebuilt three-axle "Umbauwagen" coaches used for these services originated from older passenger vehicles modernised by Deutsche Bundesbahn during the 1950s. Renowned for their reliability and versatility, these coaches became a familiar sight across West Germany. Specially liveried examples such as the Deutsche Weinstraße coaches helped promote regional tourism while offering comfortable accommodation for excursion passengers.
Today, these distinctive coaches remain popular subjects among railway enthusiasts, representing a fascinating blend of railway history, tourism promotion and classic Deutsche Bundesbahn passenger operations.
