Model Details
The Magirus MK 130M8 Koffer “Deutsche Bundespost” by Lemke Collection is a highly detailed 1:160 scale N gauge truck model representing one of the most recognisable commercial delivery vehicles of post-war Germany. This precision miniature captures the legendary Magirus medium-duty truck in authentic Deutsche Bundespost postal service livery, making it an essential addition for collectors of classic logistics vehicles, German commercial transport, and realistic model railway freight scenes.
Based on the rugged and reliable Magirus MK 130M8 platform, this box-bodied (“Koffer”) truck reflects the practical utility vehicles used throughout Germany for mail distribution, parcel transport, and regional logistics operations during the 1970s and 1980s. The bright Deutsche Bundespost yellow livery and accurately reproduced cab design create an authentic period-correct appearance ideal for N gauge depots, railway loading scenes, and transport dioramas.
The original Magirus MK series formed part of the famous European “Vierer-Club” (Club of Four) truck programme introduced in 1975. This landmark collaboration between Magirus, Volvo, DAF, and Renault/Saviem standardised many cab and chassis components to reduce production costs while allowing each manufacturer to maintain its own engines and styling. It became one of the most important cooperative projects in European commercial vehicle history.

Historical Background
The Magirus-Deutz MK 130M8 was introduced in 1975 as part of the influential “Club of Four” medium-duty truck family unveiled at the Brussels Motor Show. Developed jointly by Magirus, Volvo, DAF, and Renault/Saviem, the project aimed to modernise European truck manufacturing through shared engineering and standardised cab construction.
Powered by durable air-cooled Deutz diesel engines, the Magirus MK range became well known for reliability, ease of maintenance, and long operational life. The box-body “Koffer” variants were widely used for protected cargo transport, parcel delivery, and postal distribution services across Germany and Europe throughout the late 20th century.
The Deutsche Bundespost, Germany’s historic federal postal authority, operated extensive fleets of commercial vehicles like the Magirus MK 130M8 to support national mail and parcel logistics before postal privatisation in the 1990s. Today, these bright yellow trucks remain iconic symbols of classic German transport and logistics history.
