Model Details
The DAF 1100 Koffer “Neutral” by Lemke Collection is a highly detailed 1:160 scale N gauge truck model representing one of the most important medium-duty commercial vehicles in European freight transport history. This precision miniature captures the classic DAF cab-over-engine truck with an authentic box-body (“Koffer”) configuration, making it an essential addition for collectors of vintage logistics vehicles, model railway freight scenes, and classic European trucks.
Designed for N gauge layouts, industrial dioramas, and diecast transport collections, the DAF 1100 combines realistic proportions, crisp moulded detailing, and authentic commercial vehicle styling. The neutral livery version offers excellent versatility for custom freight terminals, warehouse scenes, parcel depots, and period-correct logistics layouts from the 1970s and 1980s.
The original DAF medium-duty truck family was developed as part of the famous European “Vierer-Club” (“Club of Four”) collaboration introduced in 1975. This landmark engineering partnership between DAF, Magirus-Deutz, Volvo, and Renault/Saviem standardised major cab and chassis components while allowing each manufacturer to retain its own driveline and styling identity, helping modernise medium-duty truck production across Europe.

Historical Background
The DAF 1100 formed part of a successful generation of European medium-duty trucks developed for regional freight distribution, parcel transport, and commercial logistics operations throughout the late 20th century. Known for durability, efficiency, and practical cab-over design, these vehicles became a common sight on roads across Europe.
As a participant in the influential “Club of Four” truck programme, DAF collaborated with several major European manufacturers to reduce development costs and create a modern shared truck platform. Although the cab structure and many engineering components were standardised, each manufacturer maintained distinct engines and exterior styling, giving the trucks unique brand identities.
The box-body “Koffer” versions were especially popular for secure cargo transport, furniture delivery, parcel services, and urban logistics work, making them a key part of Europe’s growing transport infrastructure during the 1970s and 1980s.
