Model Details
The DAF 1100 Pritsche/Plane “Brandweer NL” by Lemke Collection is a highly detailed 1:160 scale N gauge truck model representing the dependable support and logistics vehicles used by Dutch fire brigades during the late 20th century. Finished in authentic Brandweer Nederland emergency-service styling, this precision miniature captures the rugged practicality of the classic DAF medium-duty truck with a realistic flatbed and tarpaulin (“Pritsche/Plane”) body configuration.
Designed for model railway enthusiasts, emergency vehicle collectors, and realistic diorama builders, this Lemke MINIS release combines accurate European truck proportions with crisp detailing and period-correct municipal service appearance. The flatbed configuration reflects the versatile utility trucks used by fire departments for equipment transport, technical support, supply operations, and civil protection duties.
The original DAF 1100 formed part of the influential European “Vierer-Club” (“Club of Four”) truck programme introduced in 1975. Developed jointly by DAF, Magirus-Deutz, Volvo, and Renault/Saviem, the project standardised major cab and chassis components while allowing each manufacturer to retain its own driveline and styling identity, helping modernise medium-duty truck production across Europe.

Historical Background
The DAF 1100 was part of a successful generation of medium-duty commercial vehicles developed for logistics, municipal services, and industrial transport operations throughout Europe during the 1970s and 1980s. Known for reliability, durability, and efficient cab-over-engine design, these trucks became widely used in both civilian and public-service fleets.
As part of the historic “Club of Four” programme, DAF collaborated with several leading European manufacturers to create a shared truck platform that reduced development costs and improved production efficiency. Despite the shared engineering foundation, each manufacturer maintained distinct styling and mechanical characteristics.
In the Netherlands, utility versions of trucks like the DAF 1100 were commonly used by Brandweer fire brigades for support duties, equipment transport, and emergency logistics operations. Their versatility and dependable performance made them valuable assets in municipal and civil protection fleets.
