Model Details

The Volvo F4/6 Pritsche/Plane “Neutral” by Lemke Collection is a highly detailed 1:160 scale N gauge truck model representing one of the most important medium-duty commercial vehicles of the 1970s and 1980s. This finely crafted miniature captures the robust Volvo cab-over-engine design based on the shared European “Vierer-Club” platform, paired with a realistic flatbed and tarpaulin (“Pritsche/Plane”) body configuration.

Designed for model railway enthusiasts, truck collectors, and industrial diorama builders, this Lemke MINIS model delivers authentic proportions, sharp detailing, and a versatile neutral livery. It is ideal for creating realistic freight yards, construction supply scenes, regional logistics depots, and classic European road transport layouts.

The Volvo F4/6 was part of the influential “Vierer-Club” (“Club of Four”) cooperation introduced in 1975. This landmark European project involved Volvo, DAF, Magirus-Deutz, and Renault/Saviem working together to standardise cab and chassis components while allowing each manufacturer to retain its own engines and front-end design. The result was one of the most important shared truck platforms in European commercial vehicle history.

Historical Background

The Volvo F4/6 originated from the European “Club of Four” development programme launched in the mid-1970s. The goal of this collaboration between Volvo, DAF, Magirus-Deutz, and Renault/Saviem was to reduce production costs and improve standardisation by sharing a common cab structure while maintaining brand-specific engineering.

Volvo’s interpretation of the platform was known for its durability and strong safety focus, reflecting Swedish design priorities. These trucks became widely used across Europe in regional freight transport, municipal services, and industrial logistics throughout the late 20th century.

The flatbed and tarpaulin (“Pritsche/Plane”) configuration was especially popular for its versatility, allowing operators to transport palletised goods, construction materials, and general cargo efficiently across road networks.
