Bachmann Announces Upgraded Class 47 with New Features
Bachmann has unveiled exciting news for diesel fans, confirming that the much-loved Class 47 is returning with a host of technical upgrades and refinements. It’s been a few years since the last release of an all-new Class 47, and with over 500 locomotives built and more than six decades of service, there’s certainly no shortage of liveries or variations to cover.
The new specification sees the class receive several key enhancements, including the addition of the Bach-Up Stay Alive system, designed to deliver smooth, uninterrupted performance on DCC layouts. Sound Fitted and Deluxe Sound Fitted versions now feature the Dual Fitted XL Speaker System, combining a TangBand passive radiator for deeper bass with a sugar cube speaker to produce Bachmann’s most immersive sound experience yet.
Further refinements include motorised radiator fans, tinted windscreen glazing, and the introduction of Auto-Release Couplings on Deluxe models, allowing hands-free uncoupling via DCC. Visual updates have also been made, with improved cab glazing for greater realism and redesigned snowploughs now mounted directly to the chassis for a more authentic appearance, even on curves.
