Dapol P&D JHA Hoppers In Stock Now
In stock now from Dapol are their new range of P&D wagons, including middle and end hopper variations.
Railway P&D (Plough & Discharge) hoppers are specialised freight wagons designed for the efficient transport and unloading of bulk materials such as aggregates, ballast, and minerals. These hoppers are fitted with bottom discharge doors or plough mechanisms that allow for quick and controlled offloading of contents directly onto the track or into designated areas without needing external unloading equipment. P&D hoppers are commonly used in infrastructure and maintenance operations across rail networks, ensuring the timely and safe delivery of materials.
Dapol have produced a range of these wagons, with some being in "End Hopper" variations and some "Middle Hopper". Although no difference in the detail of the prototypes, the "End Hopper" wagons feature NEM coupling pockets with a standard 'Hook and Loop' style coupling, on one end, with a permanent knuckle coupler on the other. The "Middle Hopper" wagons feature the permanent knuckle coupler on both ends and are designed to fit within a rake of wagons with an "End Hopper" on each end.
