Birth of the Railways 200th Anniversary Train Pack

Leading the trio in the Birth of the Railways 200th Anniversary Train Pack is Locomotion No. 1, the pioneering steam locomotive built by George and Robert Stephenson for the historic launch of the Stockton & Darlington Railway. This finely detailed OO gauge model reflects its preserved appearance, complete with wood grain boiler print, green etched nameplates, a single chimney, bell, and coal-laden tender. DCC-ready with a Next 18-pin socket, it embodies the contrast between steam-era innovation and modern digital control – though due to space constraints, it is not compatible with the HM7000 decoder.

Next in the line-up is the legendary Rocket, winner of the 1829 Rainhill Trials and a locomotive that shaped the future of railway engineering. Built by Robert Stephenson & Co., Rocket set the standard for steam traction on the pioneering Liverpool & Manchester Railway. This OO gauge model captures its distinctive appearance, finished in a striking yellow and black livery with a white chimney to reflect the railway’s first-class coach colours. Under the tender barrel lies a concealed 6-pin DCC socket, powering a smooth-running 3-pole skew wound motor – a perfect blend of historic charm and modern performance.

Completing the trio is Lion – built in 1838 by Todd, Kitson & Laird for the Liverpool & Manchester Railway. As one of the earliest "luggage" locomotives, Lion reflects the evolution of steam design following Rocket's success. This OO gauge model stands out in a vibrant L&MR green and gold livery, and includes moulded buffers, authentic chain coupling, and a concealed Next 18 DCC socket – offering classic styling with modern control compatibility.
