Kato N Gauge Announcements
KATO is producing these models using their existing Class 800 tooling suite. The real trains are all part of Hitachi’ s “A-train” family and may differ slightly in roof details, interior layouts, or window arrangements. With the agreement of the respective train operating companies, these models are based on KATO's existing Class 800 design, allowing them to recreate these trains efficiently while still reflecting their unique liveries.
Class 802/2 - Transpennine Express

TPE provides passenger services on regional and inter-city routes across Northern England and Scotland.
Kato’s new model is based on the Class 802/2 Nova 1 train, which was introduced as part of the Nova fleet in late 2019. The Nova 1 trains were designed to increase TPE’s route coverage and capacity. They primarily operate on services connecting Liverpool, Manchester, Newcastle, and Edinburgh.

The open-access operator Hull Trains introduced the Class 802 in 2019, branding it the “Paragon” after Hull’s landmark Paragon Station, where the fleet was officially launched.
The Paragon trains operate long-distance passenger services between Hull Paragon and London King’s Cross. Their livery features a distinctive multi-coloured band below the windows, with each carriage displaying names of places some symbolic, others significant to the route making every train unique.

Class 805 - Avanti West Coast Evero

The Class 805 was built by Hitachi Rail for Avanti West Coast to replace its Class 221 Super Voyager fleet, which had operated services along the North Wales Coast and on routes between London, Birmingham, and Chester. The Class 805 entered regular passenger service in June 2024 and was branded as “Evero,” alongside the Class 807 units introduced later that year.
Like the Class 800 and 802, the Class 805 is a bi-mode multiple unit, capable of running on both electric and diesel power. It was introduced to reduce long-distance diesel operation on partially electrified routes and to help cut carbon emissions.
