Kato Announcements: December 2025

This month Kato have announced a range of products based on the JR 883 Series Sonic Multiple Units.

Celebrating 30 years of speed and innovation, the iconic 883 Series “Sonic” returns in an updated lineup! As JR Kyushu’s first tilting train (and Japan’s first AC tilting train for commercial service), it introduced a new design with unique triple fog lights and an iconic metallic blue livery. The real 883 Series “Sonic” won the Japanese rail-industry “Blue Ribbon Award” in 1996 and is considered one of Japan’s most visually distinctive express trains.
