Main Lines: 27th March 2026
Welcome to this week's Main Lines.
The past week on the UK railway network has seen a strong focus on recovery, upgrades and future planning, with Glasgow Central station fully reopening following fire damage and the upgraded Cutty Sark DLR station returning to service ahead of schedule. In the Midlands, passenger trains have resumed at Willenhall and Darlaston for the first time in decades, while key infrastructure works in South Wales have improved reliability between Newport and Cardiff. Elsewhere, HS2 continues to face cost pressures and scrutiny, and passengers are being advised to plan ahead for disruption over Easter with the temporary closure of London Euston station as major upgrade works take place.
In the model railway world, you can find out more about the announcement and the support everyone has for independent model shops, plus the latest updates from Graham Farish, Hornby, Rapido Trains UK, ModelCraft and Wiking in this week's Main Lines.

PUBLIC STATEMENT: One Industry, One Message. Now is the time to back Independent Retailers.
The model railway industry, though small and sometimes challenged, has consistently adapted and evolved. It has withstood world wars, global recessions, and pandemics. While famous brands have come and gone, the core strength remains: the independent model shop, a sector recognised as the most vital component by those who understand the industry best.
